Xiaomi Mi 6 Release Date In India Still Under Wraps? Flagship Headed To A Handful Of Global Markets [VIDEO]
Xiaomi's Mi 6 is slated to hit the store shelves in select markets in near future; however, the Beijing-based handset maker has been refraining from confirming the device's arrival in India, hinting at a big change in the company's long-reigning launch pattern.
Xiaomi Mi 6 Release Date In India
Xiaomi took the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone, the Mi 6 in home country China just last week. Anticipated to take on Samsung's Galaxy S8 bearing nearly half the price, the Mi 6 is deemed as one of the first smartphones to pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, under the hood. There's hearsay that Xiaomi is planning to launch its Mi 6 smartphone in India; however, a recently surfaced report from IndiaToday suggests that may not be the case.
While Mi 6 is set to arrive in select global markets at a later date, a Xiaomi spokesperson told BGR that they do not have details regarding the device's India launch or availability at the moment. Although this statement does not directly invalidate the IndiaToday report, it hints at the company's plan to launch the Mi 6 in a handful of other markets. If this comes to fruition, it will be quite surprising since India is Xiaomi's second largest marker as far as sales are concerned.
That being said, it's worth noting that Xiaomi launched its Mi 5 smartphone in India last year but regrettably, the device failed to sweep Indian smartphone enthusiasts off their feet. Xiaomi later deviated its attention on the Redmi-series aiming the budget segment. Both the Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 4 have been very well received until now.
Xiaomi Mi 6 Specifications & Price
As expected, the Mi 6 packs an array of awe-inspiring specs and features including a sharp display, dual 12MP cameras and lots more. A Snapdragon 835 SoC will be firing up the Mi 6, which will come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, according to AndroidCentral.
Furthermore, the device is backed by a 3350mAh battery, but the handset's selling point is that it offers all the aforesaid features for an affordable price tag of just ¥2,899, which converts to about $420.
