In the midst of seemingly unceasing rumors, leaks, and speculations, Xiaomi has officially announced its next flagship in the form of the Mi 6 at a launch event in Beijing.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Release Date

At the Mi 6 launch event, Xiaomi emphasized on a slew of factors including the device's premium 3D glass form factor, the capable Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB of RAM, and rear-mounted dual cameras. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is slated to hit the store shelves on April 28 at 10 am CST (7:30 am IST).

Xiaomi Mi 6 Price & Variants

Smartphone enthusiasts will be able to choose from three variants with different price points. Let's check out the options available for those looking to get their hands on the Xiaomi Mi 6.

The Mi 6 model with 64GB storage + 6GB RAM will come bearing a price tag of CNY 2,499 (about $363). The model with 128GB storage + 6GB RAM is priced at CNY 2,899 (about $417). Both the aforesaid versions will be up for grabs in Black, White and Blue color options.

Aside from the two regular variants, Xiaomi has also unveiled another model of the flagship smartphone dubbed as the Mi 6 Ceramic, which packs 6GB of RAM + 128GB storage and it is priced at CNY 2,999 (about $433), according to a blog post on Mi.com. The Mi 6 Ceramic features 18K gold-plated camera rims at the back and is available in Black color.

In addition to the aforesaid versions, Xiaomi also announced a Silver Edition of the Mi 6, which boasts an ultra reflective mirror finish coupled with four-sided 3D curves. Founder and chief executive of Xiaomi, Lei Jun warranted that the Silver Edition will ooze a completely different feel compared to the blue variant consumers have already seen.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Specifications

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is powered by the latest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, which is clocked at 2.45GHz. It comes with 6GB of RAM and Adreno 540 GPU. At the event, Jun claimed that Xiaomi Mi 6 powered by the SD 835 is capable of outperforming the iPhone 7. It's worth noting that the Mi 6 has already surpassed the Samsung Galaxy S8 in benchmark results including AnTuTu, according to Gadgets 360.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a 5.15-inch full-HD display with 1080x1920 pixels resolution. It offers a maximum brightness of 600 nits, but users can reduce it to as low as 1 nit in order to minimize eye-strain. The device measures 145.17 x 70.49 x 7.45mm.

Moreover, the smartphone features stainless steel sides, which gives it a high-gloss outline. The Mi 6 offers stereo speakers, NFC, fingerprint sensor, IR blaster and USB Type-C. The device offers splash resistance. In terms of connectivity, the Mi 6 has 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2x2 MU-MIMO, Android Police reported.

The Mi 6 has been specifically designed like a watch, while the dual-camera at the back of the handset has been seamlessly integrated, according to Jun. The Mi 6's fingerprint scanner is placed underneath the glass at the front. He also claimed that the Mi 6 is immune to ravages of time.

Backed by a 3350mAh battery, the Mi 6 features a 12MP lens for wide-angle shots with 4-axis OIS, There's another 12MP, which is used for the Depth of field, beautification and the zoom features. The Mi 6 camera is equipped with four-axis anti-shake functionality and phase-detection autofocus that make sure that the images are blur-free.
