Turing Phone Appassionato Release Date, Specifications, Price & Rumor Roundup [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelSan Francisco-based mobile technology maker Turing Robotic Industries (TRI) has a bad reputation as far shipping phones is concerned. The company's kept postponing the arrival of its first handset, the "ultra-secure" Turing Phone, until it was finally released in 2016.
When Turing Phone finally hit the store shelves, buyers discovered that it didn't run the originally advertised operating system, meaning, it came with Sailfish instead of Android. In the bid to probably amend its rundown reputation, TRI announced (via PRNewswire) it's collaboration with Chinese tech company, TCL in order to make the Turing Phone Appassionato.
TCL ranks among the world's top-ten handset makers, with its phones being shipped to 160 countries. TCL even acquired the BlackBerry brand recently to manufacture smartphones under the once iconic label. This expertise, paired with valuable feedback from the first Turing Phone owners, will help the company with further enhancing its mobile offerings this year, TRI CEO Syl Chao remarked.
The Appassionato smartphone saw a soft launch earlier this year and following in the footsteps of the previously-announced device by TRI, it is expected to be baselessly high-end. Here's what smartphone enthusiasts can expect from the upcoming smartphone.
Turing Phone Appassionato Specifications
TRI's spec sheet indicates the device will be built from the metal alloy Liquidmorphium and feature a diamond-like carbon coating that would give the handset a high-tech ceramic feel. For added safety of the device's display, the smartphone will use ultra-strong sapphire glass i.e. the same element Apple uses for its camera lenses, according to TheVerge.
The Appassionato will be running Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box and will pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8996SG-AC SoC, which could be a version of SD 821. While all this sounds great, the device's selling point will be a digital assistant and concierge service known as "Sir Alan."
In its release, the company divulged more details regarding the Turing Phone Appassionato's amplified intelligence, which will be coupled with enhanced concierge service. According to Turing (via Gadgets 360), Amplified Intelligence alludes to a process which centers on using AI (artificial intelligence) to replace human intelligence when it comes to making decisions and choices. Furthermore, Turing also said that TRI's intelligence amplification development will be deviating all its focus on this.
Turing Phone Appassionato Release Date & Availability
The Appassionato smartphone is likely to hit the store shelves September this year and the device will be up for grab in two variants including the "elite" PX8, which will sell for $1,099 and the premium-luxury version GX8, which is expected to carry a price tag of $1,599.
Details about the two models are hard to come by at the moment but, more pieces of information are likely to surface online sooner rather than later.
