At the huge tech event CES 2024, which is happening soon, TCL will show a cheaper version of its smart glasses that add pictures and words to see better, plus its new phones.

Their TCL 50 series phones will focus on nice screens with 120-Hz speed to see smooth and paper-like displays that look real. The RayNeo X2 Lite glasses can quickly translate what you hear to your language and have a better Qualcomm chip inside.

These are some cool things about them. TCL wants to make tech good without costing too much.

TCL Introduces Budget Phones' Great Screen Specs

The flagship TCL 50 XL 5G sports a 6.8-inch 120Hz screen, dual speakers, a 50MP main camera, a 5,010mAh battery, and 128GB storage with a leather-like back. The step-down TCL 50 XE 5G offers similar specs with a slightly smaller 6.6-inch 90Hz display.

TCL introduces NxtPaper variants for the XL and XE models, marking their US debut with paper-like displays, reducing blue light by 61%. The more matte screens offer a unique visual experience.

In addition, TCL presents the 4G-only TCL 50 LE aimed at the prepaid phone market, featuring a 6.6-inch 90Hz display, a 13MP camera, and 64GB storage. Pricing for the new lineup remains undisclosed, but the previous 40 Series phones were all priced below $200.

At CES 2023, the TCL NXTPAPER Phone Concept showcased the NXTPAPER display tech from TCL's tablets on an Android smartphone, a promising concept despite its limitations, and now, a year later, NXTPAPER 3.0 makes its debut with the TCL 50 series, showcasing impressive improvements.

The NXTPAPER screen offers a unique paper-like feel, significantly reducing fingerprints and glare while easing eye strain by blocking blue light. However, it still has drawbacks, notably an LCD without the deep blacks of OLED screens.

Though TCL's advancements are commendable, the NXTPAPER display isn't as vibrant as typical mid-range phone displays.

Moreover, TCL's focus on budget and mid-range markets limits premium features, leading to processing power, camera quality, and other flagship amenities trade-offs. Yet, this could pave the way for TCL to license its innovative display technology to other brands.

While a premium TCL phone seems distant, licensing NXTPAPER to brands like OnePlus might lead to a premium device with this unique display tech-a prospect many eagerly await.

Despite its limitations, NXTPAPER's potential has captivated consumers, encouraging hope for a future where premium phones embrace this innovative display.

TCL stepped up its game at CES 2024, unveiling the 115QM89, a massive 115-inch MiniLED TV boasting Quantum Dot tech. Positioned as a premium contender against Samsung and Sony, it joins the QM8 line, introducing a 6.2.2 channel speaker system and TCL's AIPQ ULTRA processor for crisper images and 20,000 dimming zones for enhanced contrast.

Alongside, the Q6-Pro with improved local dimming and the QM7 Mini LED line joined the lineup. In the midrange, the S5 series promises 25% brighter displays, powered by the AIPQ processor, supporting HDR PRO+ and Dolby Vision.

TCL also introduced new soundbars, including the S55H and Q85H, offering immersive Dolby Atmos experiences.
