Fulton Innovation announced that it will demo its tablet which can be charged wirelessly and can also be doubled up as a wireless smartphone charger at the 2013 International CES (or CES 2013).
Fulton Innovation is planning on unveiling a tablet that can transfer power wirelessly to a Qi-enabled mobile phone when placed back-to-back.
Nokia is the first smartphone maker to provide wireless charging for its Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphone line up, the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820. Now there are a few more Qi mobile phones in the market embedded with wireless power including the Google Nexus 4 and HTC Droid DNA.
"We're excited to return to CES as it allows us to showcase the next generation of wireless power innovations developed by our award-winning team of scientists. We've spent the last 14 years contributing to the wireless power industry and now our technology is built into 70% of the 10+ million Qi-based devices on the market today. Wireless power is rapidly becoming a must-have feature in the latest smart-phones and we're proud to be a part of the rapidly-growing market," said Dave Baarman, Director of Advanced Technologies for Fulton Innovation.
Fulton Innovation will also demonstrate Adaptive Resonance technology, using which a charging pad can wirelessly charges multiple Qi-compatible devices at once, recognizing and adapting to the power needs of individual devices.
Furthermore, Fulton Innovation will also show how mobile devices can be charged wirelessly over a distance. Currently, a smartphone needs to be placed on a charging pad in order to charge the mobile phone.
Wireless charging is among the upcoming future technologies, which may eliminate the need of wires to charge a smartphones and tablets. We will have to wait and see what other technological developments are waiting for us in the near future.
Check out the video below which shows the company's latest technological development in the wireless charging field.
