"Make it a gift they'll never forget by adding a personal laser-engraved message to any iPod or iPad. It's easy and it's free," says Apple's Valentine Day promo Web page.

Once you have selected the iPad or iPod of your choice, you'll be taken to a page where you can add your personal message for your loved one. You can engrave a message of up to two lines, 34 characters each, on the fifth-generation iPod touch and iPod nano; two lines, 33 characters each, on the fourth-generation iPod touch and iPod classic; two lines, 29 characters each, on the iPod shuffle.

"Have your Apple product shipped in our beautiful signature gift box with a red ribbon, along with a personalized greeting card. It's a thoughtful touch if you can't be there to see them open it in person," notes Apple's Valentine's Day promo Web page.

When you are checking out, tick the box next to "This is a gift" and select the Apple Gift Package. You can also add a free gift message to the packing slip of most products.

Both the engraving on iDevices as well as 'Signature Gift Wrapping' are free on orders over $50.

Apple has also set up order deadlines to ensure your iPad or iPod arrives at its destination by Valentine's Day, that is Feb. 14. Standard order deadlines range from Jan. 30 to Feb. 5, depending on the product and engraving options.

If you want to gift an iPad or iPod to your loved one on Valentine's Day, don't forget to add a romantic message and the special gift-wrapping from Apple.
