iOS 6 Jailbreak: How To Untether Your Tethered Device Using Evasion [Tutorial]

Now that the long-awaited iOS 6, 6.1 untethered Jailbreak Evasi0n has arrived, it's time you convert your tethered jailbreak into untethered, and the process is just a cake walk.

If you are using a tethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1 via the RedSn0w method, you can convert your tethered iOS 6 jailbreak into an untethered solution with the Cydia package called 'evasi0n 6.x Untether.' The Cydia package has been released by the evad3rs team, the guys behind the now ubiquitous iOS 6 Jailbreak Evasi0n. The conversion is possible on any pre-A5 device running iOS 6 such as iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G.

All you need to do is to hit the Cydia stores, download the evasion package, and convert your device into an untehtered jailbreak by following the simple steps given below. However, it should be noted that the conversion method is not free of untested bugs or flows, but you will still be able to retain the previously installed Cydia apps and tweaks while exploring the untethered jailbreak. In short, it will not be necessitated you to reinstall all those bulky apps and tweaks.

Assuming that you already have a tethered jailbreak on a pre-A5 device, let's get into the steps:

Step 1: Launch Cydia and search for evasion. You can find it by going to the 'Sections' tab at the bottom of the screen, choose 'System' from the list of sections and select evasi0n 6.x Untether from the list of packages.

Step 2: Select the 'Install' button at the top right of the screen.

Step 3: Tap the 'Continue' tab to launch installation of the package.

Step 4: After the successful installation of evasi0n, press the large 'Return to Cydia' tab.

Step 5: At this point, you will retain your jailbreak through a reboot. You will receive the evasi0n logo on your device's display with status messages like Initialising offsets, Cleaning up, Done! Continuing boot etc during the first reboot.

Step 6: With the completion of the second reboot, you are all good to enjoy your newly untethered jailbreak.
