HTC One owners on TELUS Canada are in for some good news, as the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is on its way.
The latest HTC flagship smartphone is considered to be one of the best Android handsets of this year, but the older Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was a drawback for many interested buyers.
Canadian carrier TELUS has now posted the schedule for its upcoming updates and the mighty HTC One is on top of the list, set to receive a bump to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in "late September." The testing status is listed as "in progress for now."
With more than half of the month already passed, a late September rollout can only mean that the HTC One will receive the much-awaited firmware upgrade very soon. In fact, users could receive the notification update any day now, as TELUS completes its testing process.
HTC One owners in the U.S., meanwhile, should get the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software update sometime this month as well, but no new information has emerged on this front. A little over a month ago, the folks over at HTC have confirmed that the latest Android update will roll out in September, but offered no specific rollout date.
"Lots of questions re 4.3 release for One. We r wrking hard (needs cert) to release 4.3 across all US, Canada skus by end Sept. DNA as well," HTC's Jason Mackenzie tweeted back on Aug. 19.
The HTC One launched with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board and some regions received an update to Android 4.2 in the meantime. Most users, however, are eagerly waiting for the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, especially since Google has already announced its plans for the next version of Android.
Android 4.4 KitKat is expected to make its debut sometime in October, most likely on Oct. 14. By that time, the HTC One in all regions and versions should already be running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Exact rollout dates for the HTC One software update are not available at this point, but users should receive the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean by the end of this month.
