HTC left it to carriers to announce when they would start offering the new HTC One Max and Verizon has now made its announcement.
While Verizon was the last one to start offering the HTC One smartphone to its customers, the carrier seems to be on top of things with the upcoming HTC One Max. In an interesting twist, Verizon is now the first carrier to confirm plans for carrying the massive Android phablet.
Without giving any specific details, Verizon announced that the HTC One Max will join its lineup "this holiday season." It also remains unclear at this point whether the carrier will offer the phablet in both 16GB and 16GB internal storage configurations.
For those unfamiliar with the device, the newly-unveiled HTC One Max boasts a huge 5.9-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The super-sized smartphone packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7GHz under the hood, along with 2GB of RAM to provide a smooth and fluid experience.
While the phablet retains the same design that made the HTC One so popular, it does pack a punch: unlike the original flagship, the HTC One Max comes with a microSD card slot for additional memory. The new device ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on board, as well as the new HTC Sense 5.5.
Other specs of the HTC One Max include the much-touted HTC UltraPixel camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter. Both cameras can record 1080p video. The phablet also supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy (LE), GPS, NFC, as well as a fingerprint scanner on the rear of the device, just below the camera. A large 3,300 mAh battery will keep things up and running and HTC has also announced an official HTC One Max power flip case that comes with a 1,500 mAh flexible battery.
With Verizon already confirming that it will start offering the HTC One Max in time for the holiday shopping season, other carriers will likely follow suit and make their announcements soon enough. We'll keep you updated as soon as we learn more.
