Samsung has added yet another member to its Galaxy family of smartphones with its newly-unveiled Galaxy Core Advance, set to launch "early next year."
The new Samsung Galaxy Core Advance sports a 4.7-inch screen and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, with all signs pointing to another offering for budget-conscious smartphone shoppers.
While it sports some noticeable improvements compared to the original Galaxy Core, it's still a budget smartphone, which means that it doesn't pack very impressive specifications. The Galaxy Core Advance packs a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, and a microSD card slot for up to 64GB of additional storage.
Other specs include a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2,000 mAh battery. In terms of features, the Samsung Galaxy Core Advance will come with the usual Samsung services such as S Voice, S Translator, Group Play, Sound & Shot, and Easy Mode. The handset will also have support for NFC (S Beam), GPS with GLONASS, and Bluetooth 4.0.
"Galaxy Core Advance provides users with a premium design, sporting a large 4.7" display and a Soft Feel coated back cover that increases durability providing a warm, soft touch to the user and making it easier and more comfortable to grip," touted Samsung in its press release on Monday, Dec. 16.
"The device also incorporates physical keys for frequently used features into its intuitive design. Dedicated keys for voice recorder, camera, volume, menu, home and power functions brings users who are less comfortable with a touch-screen experience seamless access to Galaxy Core Advance's capabilities. Matched with its ergonomic design, Galaxy Core Advance provides a deep, connected experience with updated Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with GLONASS for improved location accuracy and NFC with S Beam so users can share information such as YouTube videos, contact details and audio files with just a tap."
The smartphone will launch with a range of wireless support, including HSDPA in Europe and the equivalent of the HSPA standard in other markets. Samsung has yet to provide any pricing details for the device, but the company did say that the Galaxy Core Advance will launch in early 2014 and will come in Deep Blue and Pearl White color options.
