Snapchat for iOS received a new update to version 6.1.0 that brings several new features, including filters and the ability to replay a clip.
While it has raised a bit of controversy, Snapchat has proved to be a very popular photo and video sharing service and it is available on both Android and iOS. The app allows users to capture a photo or a short video, caption it and send it to friends.
The new update for the Snapchat iOS app now brings a Replay feature, allowing users to view the snap for a second time before it disappears forever. This feature, however, is limited to one replay per day. As expected with photo apps, the update also adds a few filters that can be applied to photos from within the app.
The main update seems to consist of three visual filters, which will enhance color effects on your images. These three filters, including two color and one black and white, can be activated by swiping from right to left. The update also brings three "smart filters," which show details about when the image was taken, such as the time, temperature, and how fast you were going (in mph) when you captured the photo.
Moreover, the latest version of Snapchat for iOS also adds a "best friends" feature, which allows users to add up to seven people to their BFF list. These extra features can be accessed from the Settings menu under "Additional services."
Other changes include a larger Helvetica font, and a new front-facing flash option. To activate the larger font, users have to tap again on the text entry box when typing a message. As for the front-facing flash, it basically flashes white on the screen while you're taking a selfie to light up the image.
In short, here's what the new Snapchat 6.1.0 has to offer:
To access and enable these new features in the updated Snapchat app, go to Settings > Additional Services > Manage. The latest version of Snapchat for iOS is now available for download from the App Store.
