Nokia's much-rumored Android smartphone dubbed the Nokia X, or Normandy, has leaked again, this time in purportedly live images that reveal the handset's design.
The Nokia X, or Normandy, has been leaking extensively recently and is expected to make its debut as soon as the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, which kicks off in February in Barcelona.
Adding to the Nokia X leaks and rumors, French publication NoWhereElse has now posted three images of the alleged smartphone. One image shows the front panel of the purported Nokia X, which features a Nokia logo at the top. The second image shows the rear panel, which seems to be made of plastic and looks reminiscent of Asha phones. The third image, meanwhile, shows the side panel of the purported smartphone, which features a volume rocker and a power button.
Nokia has yet to confirm plans to launch an Android smartphone, but intensifying rumors suggest that the purported handset may see an imminent debut.
According to rumors and leaks so far, the Nokia X is expected to sport a 4-inch TFT display with a modest resolution of 480 x 854 (FWVGA), a dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and microSD card support for additional memory. The smartphone will reportedly launch with Android KitKat on board despite its low-end specifications, as Google designed its new OS version to run even on entry-level smartphones with at least 512MB of RAM.
Other rumored specs include dual-SIM support, 4GB of internal storage capacity, and Adreno 302 graphics. Connectivity options will reportedly consist of 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, Edge, A-GPS, and micro-USB.
The Nokia X is also rumored to feature a forked version of Android, similarly to how Amazon customizes the OS for its Kindle lineup. It remains unclear at this point whether the smartphone would support Google services such as the Google Play Store, Google Now, Google Search, Google Maps, YouTube, Calendar, and others.
With no official word from Nokia, however, everything is based purely on speculation at this point. These newly-leaked images claim to show the Nokia X, but there's no way to guarantee they're accurate. If Nokia does plan to unveil an Android handset at MWC 2014, we should hear all about it soon enough. In the meantime, take all leaks, rumors and speculation with a hefty grain of salt.
