Surfing Video Game ‘Surf World Series’ Finally Hitting The Waves In 2017
Mara RevSports enthusiasts and gamers alike would be pleased if there would be a game developed that is based on the sports that they play. So far, games with basketball niche, football, and even car racing have already been hitting the market back to back. Now, it's time for another sport to finally enter the world of video game.
2017 will be a year marked for surfers to finally get a new video game. The new game is called "Surf World Series" and will be available for consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is developed by Climax Studios.
Probably one of the reasons why surfing has not been updated with the newest video games lies in the graphical representation of the ocean. It has been years since surfers were treated with video games like "Transworld Surf," "Slater's Pro Surfer" and "Sunny Garcia Surfing." However, it would seem that the new "Surf World Series" is trying to emulate the look of these games.
The running issue of updating surfing video games could come from understanding how to create a realistic fluid look of the ocean and the waves. While sports such as skateboarding and snowboarding have had realistic releases from the latest gaming systems, surfing has apparently been left behind.
As seen from the trailer, "Surf World Series" may not appear to have a major change in graphics. the video game is looking to create a platform that surfers, mostly, would enjoy. It is set across five of the world's most iconic shorelines from Bell's Beach in Australia to Waimea Bay in Hawaii.
The game will feature 45-single player challenges and will allow you to perform some of surfing's most intense moves, like the Superman and the Sushi Roll. According to the PlayStation Blog, where the game is featured, "As developers, our goal was to capture the vibes that make surfing culture what it is -- we amped up the intensity with powerful oceans, stunning backdrops, and simple arcade gameplay."
The game has six playable characters with a number of ways to customize and create your own way of playing style and look. "Surfing is an amazing sport that's been pretty underrepresented in games for some time, so we wanted to bring surfing fans a fun, arcade-style experience that's all about mastering waves and racking up huge high scores," said Climax Studios CEO Simon Gardner.
