Let's face it, when you play a video game, majority of the times the villain is the most exciting character, far more so than the main protagonist. And that is why many gamers, like myself, prefer villains over the good guys who always end up saving the day and getting the hot chick, so annoying. Some villains we love, others we love to hate, but whatever the case may be, villains are the most memorable characters in many games over the years, and we dig that.

Follow us

Today, we are going to list the top 10 most memorable villains in video gaming history. The list might not sit well with you, see that's why we have the comment area for you to share with us your own list of top 10 bad-ass villains to ever grace your TV screen. We could easily formulate over 100 evil villains, but the upcoming 10 villains are the baddest of the bad-assess in the history of gaming, or so we think.

Hey, let's get this show on the road, shall we.

#10. Dracula (Castlevania Series)

The Castlevania series is one of the most enjoyable video game series ever, this due in part to Dracula and his obsession with wiping out a whole family of vampire hunters over many generations. After many defeats, Dracula ceases to give up and keeps on kicking, hoping to one day succeed in his revenge.

#9 GLaDOS (Portal)

When you talk about evil villains, there is one that cannot go unnoticed, and that is the computer artificial intelligence, GLaDOS. Some say Portal is all about the puzzles, not so, it is all about GLaDOS and her need to for science along with putting the player through various tests.  GLaDOS is known for some of the most memorable quotes in gaming, when you hear them, you can't help but laugh and wonder, who came up with all this?

GLaDOS: "I think we can put our differences behind us... for science... you monster."

#8 Bowser (Super Mario Bros)

Didn't expected this, did you. Bowser, who also goes by the name King Koopa, has been a thorn in Mario's back for the last 25 years. He has been the main villain in almost every Mario game; one has to wonder if this gigantic turtle doesn't know when to give up. Bowser's intentions are clear, he wants to rule Mushroom Kingdom, and by doing so he must first control the lands which are ruled over by Princess Peach.

This beast of a turtle is mostly known for kidnapping the Princess, something he is really good at. The amount of trials and errors Mario has to go through to face Bowser in battle has never been a letdown. Bowser knows how to plaster levels with enemies and puzzles to slow Mario down, sadly, it never truly worked out well for the old guy.

#7 Psycho Mantis (Metal Gear Solid)

When it comes to the Metal Gear Solid franchise, there is only one villain that stands out from the rest, and he's a psycho. Psycho Mantis is quite unique, he did things no other villain has ever done in any video game before and since, and that's why we love him.

Mantis could interact with the player in some cool ways that made say "WOW." He could read your PlayStation saved games for other Konami titles and comment on them, chit chat about how many times you have saved your game, and he could turn your TV screen pitch black.

Still, what really had us going, was when Psycho Mantis ordered the player to put his/her DualShock controller on the floor, after doing so, Mantis would move it with telekinesis. Konami and Kojima did a great job with Metal Gear Solid and Psycho Mantis, and this is why this bad-ass is on our top 10 list.

#6 Albert Wesker (Resident Evil Series)

Albert Wesker is here on our list because he knows very well how to stab someone in the back. This man who was once the leader of a strike force called S.T.A.R.S, once led his team into getting infected  by the T-Virus to suit his own selfish cause. He has returned in many Resident Evil games since the first, his intentions are to infect everyone with the T-Virus, turning them into zombies only for you to shoot them in the head.

This crazy psycho bad-ass villain also infected himself with the virus to survive injuries inflicted to him in the first game. Sadly, he was put out of his misery in Resident Evil 5, never to return.
