New PS4 Slim Glacier White Variant Confirmed; Release Schedule For UK, Japan & Other PAL Areas

Sony has unveiled a new PlayStation 4 Glacier White variant, launching on January 24. However, the console will not yet be out in the US.

The latest paint job is available for the PS4 Slim, along with a 500GB hard drive and Glacier White DualShock 4 controller. Sony's statement in its blog specifically mentions the PAL region. This means that the latest PS4 Slim Glacier White variant will not be available to US buyers yet.

The PAL region comprises the UK, Europe and Australia, excluding North America. For the UK, PS4 Slim Glacier White variant can be bought at €299/£259. It will then be released in Japan on February 23, where a 1TB of PS4 Slim Glacier White variant will also be available. The PS4 Slim Glacier White variant 500GB will be sold in Japan for 29,980 yen and 34,980 yen for the 1TB model.

The fortunate PS4 fans in Japan will get the choice of buying a Glacier White DualShock 4 separately, along with a new Green Camouflage edition that has not been seen yet. We will update this article as soon as we get information about a North America release date, or if ever the PS4 Slim Glacier White variant will ever be released in the area.

Aside from the new paint job, Engadget notes that there is no distinct difference between the PS4 Slim Glacier White variant and its Jet Black counterpart. However, in the nearest future, it will no doubt be offered in a variety of exclusive bundles.

The PS4 Slim launched in matte black back in September 2016. A price for the white PS4 Slim has not been announced, although the black version at present retails for around £250 / $270 for the 500 GB model. Sony had previously sold a PS4 Glacier White variant of its original PS4, in both the US and Europe, prior to the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim launched in late 2016.
