According to the recent leaks on the newly generated patent for the future iPhone designs, Apple is working on edge-to-edge screens in its upcoming models. The reports also suggest that the upcoming handsets including Apple iPhone 8 will feature an all-glass design.

Apple To Bring Displays With Openings

Earlier rumours said that the iPhone 8 will be a bezel-free model. The recent patent that has been awarded reveals that the display is described as the one that will occupy the whole of the front face of the device. The patent has been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and as identified by Apple Insider, the document concentrates on electronic devices that have "displays with openings".

An Edge-To-Edge Full Front In iPhone 8?

According to the description, the upcoming Apple iPhone will make tiny openings or perforations on the screen to accommodate features like camera, speaker or microphone. Thus, the engineers at Apple will be able to create a screen that covers the whole of the front side of the handset. However, there is a certain practical limitation on the size of the screen at present as there or questions of where the home button and the speakers will be placed, as reported by Mirror.

Apple Gets Patent For AR Based 'Heads-Up Display'

The patent also reveals Apple's venture into augmented reality by bringing in a 'heads-up display'. According to the patent statement, a window may be formed through one or more openings made on the display which will allow users to view external objects. It also said that the display pixels in the place where the window is formed will be used to create a heads-up display. Thus, users can not only view the image displayed on the window's display pixels but also the real world at the same time, as reported by Fox News.

iPhone 8 Prototypes In Testing Stage

The rumours also revealed that the company is testing 10 different prototypes of the upcoming iPhone at present and would probably ditch the aluminium panel and go for a full-glass version in the iPhone 8. The device is getting crafted for its 2017 release.
