Tech enthusiasts have been clamoring for an upgraded desktop PC from Apple in the form of the iMac 2017; however, the Cupertino-based tech behemoth is in no mood to answer their prayers.

Amidst several sources hinting at an impending arrival of the iMac 2017, the rumor mill too has been up and running at full force while spinning around all sorts of speculations surrounding the latest Apple desktops. Here's a rundown on the latest iMac 2017 rumors.

iMac 2017 Specifications & Other Details

The 2017 iteration of the iMac has been subject to a slew of rumors and leaks. The latest buzz around the purported desktop PC suggests it will be powered by Intel's Kaby Lake processors, with the device's top end model packing an Intel Core i7 7700k processor.

A considerable number of Apple's forthcoming desktop computer models are likely to sport 5K display, MacWorld reported. Apparently, there are two iterations of the iMac i.e. a 21.5-inch screen and a 27-inch screen.

The biggest selling point of the devices when they arrived included a 5K display with the 27-inch version and 4K display that came with the range-topper 21in model. The biggest change, according to the website, would be if Apple adds the 4K display on all 21-inch models of the iMac and Retina display to the entire lineup.

The iMac 2017 is expected to feature the Thunderbolt 3 and USB C port to facilitate faster charging. The new iMac will allegedly pack AMD Polaris GPU (graphic processing unit) offering an enhanced graphical execution to the users, in addition to reductions in power consumption as well as waste heat, according to PC Advisor.

There's also hearsay that the 27-inch model of the new iMac will sport an OLED Touch Bar identical to the MacBook Pro 2016. While nothing is set in stone yet, tech pundits believe Apple might actually come out with an iMac featuring the 5K Retina with an OLED Touch Bar as this meets VR (virtual reality) demands.

Apple's iMac 2017 is expected to go toe-to-toe with the Surface Studio when it hits the store shelves. Although Microsoft has a bunch of capable desktop machines, Apple could turn out to be their greatest rival once it analyzes how to take things further and offer an array of competitive features on the new iMac.

If Apple actually introduces a VR-ready iMac 2017 with Intel Kaby Lake chip under the hood, this would spell trouble for the Surface Studio. To make things even worse, there's a possibility that the device might be very well received by the mid-range desktop user as well as, provided Apple values it sensibly.

iMac 2017 Release Date

Details about the iMac 2017 are hard to come by; however, recently surfaced reports imply that Apple will take the wraps off the iMac 2017 at this year's WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference), which kicks off June 5.
