Xiaomi Officially Unveils its new Xiaomi Mi 6 Flagship
Charles LimIn a big unveiling event in Beijing, China, Xiaomi officially lifted the curtains off its latest flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 6. Following countless rumors and leaks, fans finally got to see the full hardware specs and features of the highly awaited new smartphone.
While the device itself doesn't really offer the unique display of its one-off sibling, the Xiaomi Mi Mix, it still offers quite a lot of high-end specs that is befitting that of a true modern day flagship device.
For starters, the Xiaomi Mi 6 sports the latest and greatest from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 835. According to The Verge, this is the same processor that is found on the recently released Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, but Xiaomi's flagship is offered at about half the price of the aforementioned devices.
The powerful processor is paired with a whopping 6 GB of RAM, which is actually more than enough for even the most hardcore user. As for its display, the Xiaomi Mi 6 comes equipped with the same 5.15-inch full HD 1080p display found on the Xiaomi Mi 5.
As per a report from Tech Crunch, the biggest feature of the new flagship has to be its brand new dual camera setup that is quite similar to that found on the iPhone 7 Plus. The setup is comprised of two 12-megapixel cameras along with phase detection autofocus and dual LED flash.
As for its design, the Mi 6 look quite similar to its predecessor, but with the exception of a new curved glass panel along its four edges. Xiaomi is also offering the unit in two new colors, namely blue and gold. Another big change that users may probably dislike is the omission of the standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
The base model Mi 6 with 64 GB of storage will start at $360, while the top end model with 128 GB of internal storage will come at around $420.
