SamMobile chanced upon the firmware courtesy a Tinh Te (Vietnamese Web site) forum member Mr. Loug who leaked it to the public.
The leaked ROM "N7100XXDLJ2" has a build date of Oct. 29, 2012, and is still being tested by Samsung. The company is expected to release the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note 2 in either December this year or January 2013.
"Samsung has added a ton of new features in their Android 4.1.2 update and we wanted to give Samsung's hardcore fans a sneak preview of what Samsung is up to in their dev center," noted SamMobile.
According to SamMobile, some of the new features of the leaked firmware brings are as follows:
The screenshots from Tinh Te, give a peek at the Ink Effect on the lock screen feature the ROM brings to the Galaxy Note 2. Whenever the S Pen touches the lock screen, users will see a colorful ink effect in pink, orange, green, or blue (as depicted in the image). However, if a live wallpaper is set on the screen, the effect will be automatically disabled.
The firmware can be downloaded from N7100XXDLJ2_N7100OXADLJ2_OXA.zip, and SamMobile also gives interested users the flashing instructions. However, this is a pre-release firmware and may have bugs and, therefore, it is advisable that users do not install unofficial software on their devices.
