Gearbox has some good news for all its ‘Borderlands 2’ fans all over the world. Per reports, Gearbox has revealed a set of SHiFT codes for the company’s popular action role-playing first-person shooter title ‘Borderlands 2’ across all the platforms it has been released on.

The new SHiFT codes will basically get gamers access to otherwise inaccessible and very rare and valuable and useful loot and weapons in the game. The developer is giving out another new set of ‘Borderlands 2’ SHiFT Codes that can be redeemed for in-game items.

Gearbox has also confirmed that these platform-specific vouchers will stay active until the end of 2012, and users can check out the codes and use them before they expire.

For anybody who is not familiar with the SHiFT codes, SHiFT is the company’s way of rewarding fans with additional in-game items for ‘Borderlands 2,’ such as Golden Keys, loot and other goodies, although it has nothing to do with redeeming pre-order bonuses like Premiere Club.

Users will need to note that they have to be 18 years or above to sign up for SHiFT, and if anyone links their SHiFT account to any given platform (PSN, Steam Xbox 360) from within ‘Borderlands 2’ (and not the site itself), they will receive a bonus Golden Key.

“Upon linking your SHiFT account from in-game (Main Menu -> Extras -> Shift Code) the bonus Golden Key will be automatically added to your inventory, not sent as a code in a separate e-mail,” the official page states.

“Weather outside frightful? Use these SHiFT codes to make your loot-hunting more delightful,” the Facebook page adds.

To use the Golden Key, users will first need “to get to the city of Sanctuary. This should take you about three hours.” Three hours because players will need two hours to play through the missions leading up to Sanctuary, and one hour for physical recovery “after you injure yourself laughing at the impeccably written dialog.”

It is also important to note that players cannot trade or sell Golden Keys, and once they have used a Key to open the Golden Chest, that Key will be gone for good.
