Prepaid carrier MetroPCS has revised its 4G LTE offering by announcing three new data plans.

The new LTE plans, called "simple plans for a simpler life," offer unlimited data but with different 4G LTE data caps. The lowest tier is $40 per month, while the unlimited LTE data plan is priced at $60.

The $40 per month plan offers unlimited data, but only the first 500MB of data will run at 4G LTE speeds. The next plan is $50 per month, which includes unlimited data and the first 2.5GB of data will run at 4G LTE speeds. The final plan is $60 per month without any soft-cap on data transfers, which means completely unlimited data running at 4G LTE speeds.

All three new plans from MetroPCS offer unlimited voice and text messages and are available on several of smartphones, including the popular Samsung Galaxy S3. It also offers the LG Motion 4G and LG Connect 4G, as well as ZTE Avid 4G smartphones. If customers cannot afford to buy phones at off-contract price, MetroPCS also offers financing.

MetroPCS is also offering value-added services such as call blocking, call detail, cell phone protection, GPS navigation system, and visual voice mail. The cost of the value-added services vary from as low as $1 to $5, which is added to the select plan.

MetroPCS is the fifth largest mobile network in the U.S., but it is facing a difficult time. After several years of continuous growth, MetroPCS is now losing customers. In Q4 2012, which is the best time for network carriers, MetroPCS lost 93,000 customers, which brings the count of total subscribers that left the mobile network in 2012 to 460,000.

However,  T-Mobile is coming to its rescue as the carrier's acquisition of MetroPCS could possibly push through in the Q2 2013.
