Vamien McKalin email: v.mckalin@mobilenapps.com

The Xbox 360 was the top video game console of 2012 in the U.S. and the top selling console overall. It is not easy being top dog in such a competitive environment, but with solid games being released all the time, the console continues its dominion.

The following are some of the best games for the Xbox 360. Not every game will make the list, so let us know of your own top 10 games in the comments section.

1. Mass Effect 3 (Amazon - $26.99)

The Mass Effect games have always been a top contender, and the final game in the trilogy, Mass Effect 3, is no exception. Sure many gamers went crazy and ridiculed the game over the ending, but one negative aspect of Mass Effect 3 should not poison the whole game. Out of all the others, this is the most fun and most engaging, so don't worry about the ending as this game needs to be played and Shepherd must finish the fight.

2. Assassins Creed 3 (Amazon - $51.45)

Assassin's Creed 3 puts you in the shoes of Connor, an Assassin seeking revenge during the war of independence in the United States. It's a solid title for the Xbox 360 and brings along some new mechanics like the ability to jump from tree to tree, movements slowing down in deep snow, and how about taking control of a ship with big guns along with shooting other ships with big guns, sounds fun right?

In the present day, Desmond's story continues as he goes on the path of solving puzzles that can unlock the secrets of his memories. The ending wasn't what many were expecting. It seems a bit foolish, but game developers are known to have problems producing a good ending.

3. Borderlands 2 (Amazon - $29.99)

If you played the massive game that is Borderlands, then you'll love Borderlands 2 even more. Borderlands 2 is ten times the fun of Borderlands, but to get the full experience, one has to play the campaign via multiplayer co-op with friends or strangers on Xbox Live.

The story is about four new Vault Hunters and the anti-hero Handsome Jack. Jack lured the four Hunters on a train where they were ambushed by Hyperion robots, from there begins the fight to stop Handsome Jack from opening a second Vault that holds a powerful beast that would be submissive to the person who opens it.

The amount of weapons and loot to be had while on the hunt for Handsome Jack is too much to handle, it's like Diablo with guns.

4. The Walking Dead (Amazon - $29.99)

A list without The Walking Dead? Madness. Telltale, the developers behind the game, has created a masterpiece. A game that fans and non-fans of the TV series will love. Hey, sure it has a few problems here and there and probably doesn't deserve to be Spike Game of the Year, but it is the best game on Xbox Live Arcade at the moment and that should count for something.

When you play this game, prepare to stare into the eyes of Clementine a lot, Telltale is probably trying to hypnotize us with those eyes.

5. Halo 4 (Amazon - $39.99)

Finally, we have Halo 4, the first title in the new trilogy from 343 Industries. This game is arguably the best compared to all other Halo games, which means Halo is no longer Bungie's baby, but 343's instead. The new trilogy sees the return of the Masterchief and his trusty artificial intelligence, Cortana.

Throughout the game, players will be going up against many enemies including Prometheans, which are constructs of Forerunner. Then there is the Didact, the anti-hero who seeks the Composer. He's one of the best characters in the game, along with Cortana and all her troubles of being an old and dying A.I.
