If anyone had any doubt that jailbreaking is still very much alive and kicking, the Evasi0n team just announced that Evasi0n was downloaded 100,000 times within the first 10 minutes of its release.
The Evasi0n team announced that it saw over 100,000 downloads of its new jailbreaking tool in the first 10 minutes of it being posted to its servers. This shows that people were eagerly waiting an iOS 6 jailbreak, and one that could finally jailbreak the iPhone 5.
The team has been working on an iOS 6 jailbreak for months but wanted to wait for Apple to release iOS 6.1 as to not give Apple a chance to fix any vulnerabilities that the team would use to exploit in order to create a jailbreak for iOS 6.x devices.
The team should feel very proud to know that hundreds of thousands of people were waiting for them to release a tool that would once again bring jailbreaking back to iOS 6 devices.
Over 100,000 downloads in the first ten minutes indicates that many people were waiting in advance for the jailbreak to go live and once it did, it saw record downloads of a jailbreaking tool and nearly broke the site's server. It should also send a strong message to Apple that there are still important features, apps, etc. only available when jailbreaking a device and some of these features should give you a hint of what users want in terms of new iOS features.
I wonder how long it will take Apple to release a new iOS 6 update to stop the jailbreak?
