HTC is taking the short and simple route in naming its next flagship smartphone. "HTC One" is straight and to the point and it's already part of HTC's branding.
At Mobile World Congress in 2012, HTC launched the HTC One series, which consisted of three smartphones. The HTC One X was the flagship device, the HTC One S was its mid-range offering, and the HTC One V was its entry-level smartphone. It is not known if HTC plans on announcing three smartphones like it did last year. There is one device we've become familiar with and that was the smartphone formerly known as the HTC M7, now the HTC One.
The HTC One is expected to feature a 4.7-inch 1080p 468ppi (pixels per inch) SoLux display, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5, a 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor, 4G LTE and HSPA+ radios, 32GB internal storage, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, Beats Audio, IR Port (for universal remote capabilities), and a 2,300 mAh battery. It will also run HTC Sense 5, an update to the Android skin HTC uses on its Android smartphones.
The smartphone will also be the first to feature a new camera technology called "Ultrapixels". The camera is expected to be made up of three 4.3-inch megapixel sensor layers that can be combined to create a single layer and produce sharper, cleaner, and more accurate photos than a traditional smartphone camera.
There is no word on expected pricing and availability, but the smartphone is expected be a carrier exclusive on three major carriers in the U.S., Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. We'll know all the details on Feb. 19 when HTC announces its latest and greatest.
