Four hackers, who go by the names MuscleNerd, Planetbeing, Pimskeks and Pod2G from the Evad3rs Jailbreak Team, released their evasi0n untethered jailbreak tool recently to massive success.
According to the team, over 7 million iOS devices have already been jailbroken, a huge number, but still small when certain things are taken into consideration. However, this makes evasi0n the fastest adopted jailbreak tool of all time and the number shows how many iOS users are willing to escape the shackles of Apple for whatever reason.

So far, 5.15 million iPhones, 1.3 million iPads and 400,000 iPods users took recourse to evasi0n. The jailbreak tool allow users of iPhone 5, iPad, iPad mini, and iPod touch devices to remove Apple's installation restrictions. For those who are in the dark, jailbreaking is similar to rooting on Android phones, which enables more customization options.
One of the main reason so many users have jailbroken their iDevice so quickly could be due to how long it took the developers to crack iOS 6. Compared to other iOS versions, iOS 6 was the most difficult, so users had to sit back eagerly anticipating the day they can crack open their iOS device like a walnut.
Many folks believe the reason users want to jailbreak their iOS device is to gain access to new features, but that is not true. The main reason is to get free access to applications that are mean't to be purchased from the App Store, and we call that piracy. So in a sense, jailbreaking an iOS device should not be considered as a good thing, because there are so many illegal activities that are attributed with doing so.
