Apple has just kicked off an interesting offer, selling the refurbished 128GB iPad with Retina Display for $679 on its online store.

The $679 price tag for the refurbished device allows for savings of $120 compared to the standard resale price of $799. Apple is offering both the black and white models of the refurbished iPad.

For those unfamiliar with the practice, Apple's refurbished store offers like-new Apple products for a discounted price. "Like-new," of course, means they are not exactly new, but the devices have been thoroughly checked and equipped with new batteries, outer shells and new accessories. In other words, they are used devices that Apple brings to mint condition and sales them through its refurbished store.

Engraving and gift-wrapping are not available for refurbished products. These devices are shipped in plain white Apple boxes.

The 128GB iPad with Retina Display originally made its debut back in October 2012 and hit the market in January this year, which means it's relatively new to Apple's product lineup. Due to its large storage capacity, this model is targeted toward mobile professionals and tech enthusiasts who need extra storage for documents, media or other types of content.

For those unfamiliar with the device, the 128GB iPad with Retina Display sports a 9.7-inch multi-touch screen, a dual-core A6X chip, a 5-megapixel iSight camera, a FaceTime HD camera, 1080p HD video recording capabilities and a 10-hour battery life. In terms of connectivity, the tablet supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0.

Apple further notes that all such products go through a rigorous refurbishment process before going on sale. Refurbished Apple products are also covered by the company's one-year limited warranty, as well as its 14-day returns policy. Interested buyers can also choose to purchase an AppleCare Protection Plan.

According to Apple, the 128GB refurbished iPad with Retina Display (fourth generation) will be shipping to customers within five to seven business days. The company also notes that supplies are limited, so those interested in the offer might want to take advantage of it while supplies last. Find the refurbished 128GB iPad at this link. The other configurations (16GB, 32GB and 64GB) are also available in refurbished versions for lower prices.
