Asus is now working on a Google Tango smartphone. The device is called Asus Zenfone AR and it will be launched at CES 2017 in January.

Jerry Shen, the Asus CEO, announced this news about their development of Asus Zenfone AR Google Tango handset. He says the the handset is another product which will be following the footsteps of Lenovo's handset Phab 2 Pro.

Before the Asus Zenfone AR, Lenovo's Phab 2 Pro is the first ever, and currently, the only smartphone that supports Google Tango. The Phab 2 Pro was announced in June and released in November 2016.

The Google Tango technology is about Augmented Reality or AR, enabling unique use-cases in motion tracking and special depth sensing camera. In the report of The Verge, it cited that this Google-made software technology is combined with specific hardware and offers advanced 3D sensing.

Shen also said the Asus Zenfone AR will come with advanced performance and functionality at a competitive price. This almost unique smartphone will probably attract more customers with this Google Tango support feature since it's now only seen in two smartphones.

Speaking of Asus, except for its upcoming Google Tango Zenfone AR, the company scheduled more devices to launch this coming year. As GSMarena says, the Zenfone 4 series will arrive in the second quarter of 2017, while a standalone VR headset from Asus is scheduled for the third quarter of the year.

The Asus VR headset is rumored to come with built-in cameras, sensors, and controllers. However, regarding these upcoming devices, the company didn't reveal more details about any of these products. However, the company is expected to share some information at CES 2017 as they launch the Google Tango Asus Zenfone AR.

Rumors and speculations about the Asus Zenfone AR specs are reported on the internet. Except for its Google Tango support, this upcoming device features a 6.4-inch QHD IPS display and multi-feature cameras; 8MP front camera, 16MP rear camera, a depth-sensing infrared camera with an imager and emitter, and a motion tracking camera.
