2017 is the year where a new game console, the Nintendo Switch, is to be launched, new software are released and a slew of games will achieve one of their biggest milestones to date. "Assassin's Creed" for one, will turn 10 years, although Ubisoft is yet to confirm the game's return as of this writing. Other notable game anniversaries this year is "Street Fighter's" 30th on August 30 and "Final Fantasy VII,"  which will turn 20 on January 31.

Feel old yet? There's more! The good folks at Game Kana managed to compile a rundown of all the major game anniversaries over the course of 2017. Unsurprisingly, there's so much to look forward to. Topping their list, "Dig Dug" will be 35 by mid-April. The game was first released in arcades in April 19, 1982.

"Assassin's Creed" & Other Game That Will Turn A Decade Old

The very first "Assassin's Creed" was launched for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 13, 2007. Created by Ubisoft, the title now has nine main games and several supporting materials. The series is well received by both gamers and critics, and in June 2016 became Ubisoft's best selling franchise, according to the company's Facts & Figures.

Alongside "Assassin's Creed," "Dynasty Warriors: Gundam" will also turn 10 years - first released for PS3, PS2 AND Xbox 360 in March 1, 2007. Other games turning a decade old this year are "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" and "Umineko When They Cry."

Games Turning 20

Can you believe that the very first "Grand Theft Auto" was released 20 years ago? First released in October 1997, GTA has since become a gamer's staple. Two months after the first GTA, "Gran Turismo" was released for PlayStation in December 23, 1997.
