Kensington announced their new laptop accessory device that can charge larger computers like Apple's MacBook Pro. This is the called The SD5000T Thunderbolt 3 Dock or simply the Thunderbolt 3.

The SD5000T Thunderbolt 3 dock is another attempt to solve the USB-C port problem. This device offers two USB 3.0 ports, 3.5mm audio, Display Port, gigabit Ethernet, a USB-C port for data, charging external device and for connecting a laptop and a second Thunderbolt 3 port for plugging various types of devices.

The Thunderbolt 3 dock can supply power to a connected laptop up to 85W. This power can charge larger computers like the Apple's newest 15-inch MacBook Pro. Only few docks on the market can supply this amount of power to a large computer.

In the Verge report, they cited that the Kensington doesn't have a fixed price for the new Thunderbolt 3 dock. However, they are exploring a price point of $349 to $379 USD. This approximated price is actually quite expensive for a USB-C dock.

USB-C is a reversible cable that perform higher transfer rate than previous USB types. According to Makeuseof, it is increasingly adopted as the standard USB type for phones, tablet and laptops, and it has been embraced by Apple for Thunderbolt 3 dock.

Unlike the previous Thunderbolt, this new Thunderbolt 3 USB-C dock is compatible with different USB type. It also has a higher transfer speed rate, can drive big displays, more power supply, and connect to more devices.

Aside from the new Thunderbolt 3 USB-C dock, the Kensington also announced the Laptop Locking Station 2.0, a new laptop locking system and the minuscule VeriMark Fingerprint Key, a USB fingerprint sensor.

After it was announced at CES 2017, the Kensington Thunderbolt 3 USB-C dock has no official release date at the time of this writing.
