"Galaxy in Turmoil," the fan-made game inspired by "Star Wars: Battlefront," recently featured its first in-game trailer. The game now has its own sci-fi universe and is no longer related to George Lucas' creation in any way.

"Galaxy in Turmoil" is set to have its own demo in 2017. In the meantime, fans can have an early view of the Nak-Thi map, which combines winter snow with a huge old volcano. The video may look very much like Star Wars for some players, with a space station, ships and other features on the molten planet. The visuals by Frontwire Studios actually look very promising.

The "Galaxy in Turmoil" trailer provided a backstory about Nak-Thi, which has undergone a thousand-year ice age. Its inhabitants are searching for fire to hopefully rouse the place back to its original vitality.

Frontwire Studios stated that "Galaxy in Turmoil" will include both single player and multiplayer modes, with several maps and vehicles. The game will also include 64-player combat, ground-to-space fights and enough space to land battles. "Galaxy in Turmoil" will run on the Unreal Engine 4. The game's beta is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2017.

PCGamer reported that "Galaxy in Turmoil" was almost shut down by LucasFilm due to its closeness to "Star Wars." However, Frontwire Studios president Tony Romanelli promised to continue the project and pivot away from "Star Wars" to create an original game with a new setting. The developer also wanted to feature "Galaxy in Turmoil" without any bugs and completely playable before releasing it to the public.

Romanelli shared that the current state of "Galaxy in Turmoil" mixes different elements of the classic "Battlefront" style of ground-to-space combat and modes, with their own unique concepts. The multiplayer version of "Galaxy in Turmoil" is said to be a spiritual successor of the first two "Battlefront" games, although they will incorporate their own ideas that will satisfy Star Wars fans.

"Galaxy in Turmoil" is also being prepared to become available for Xbox consoles. Frontwire Studios hopes to confirm Xbox support in the following months. More updates and details are expected soon.
