'Final Fantasy XV' Director Hajime Tabata Talks About Game's Possible PC Version & VR Content
Nicole T.Director Hajime Tabata of "Final Fantasy XV" has expressed his thoughts about bringing the game to PC multiple times in the past. In the most recent issue of Famitsu, a weekly magazine in Japan, he once again talked about this idea.
The director was first asked about the current ratio between the physical and digital sales of "Final Fantasy XV." Tabata answered that the digital version has more sales and the good numbers aren't just in Japan, but also in North America and Europe. Sure enough, Square Enix is happy with the figures, yet did not detail the numbers.
Tabata was also asked about the VR content of "Final Fantasy XV." Apparently, Square Enix has mentioned that the game will be compatible with VR. However, nothing concrete has been released yet.
"Development is progressing, but we haven't progressed to the point where we can say specifically when it will be released," Tabata said to Famitsu via Gematsu. Apart from the VR content, Tabata also talked about releasing the game to other platforms, specifically in PCs.
He said that he wants to release "Final Fantasy XV" on PC as a "technical attempt. According to PC Gamer, Tabata personally wants to see the game running on high-end machines.
Bringing "FFXV" to PC will also allow the players to create a unique gaming experience. As the director said, it is possible to create user-made quests with the help of mods.
The areas in "Final Fantasy XV" were also discussed. Tabata mentioned the glitch that enables players to visit unused areas. He revealed that since the areas aren't completely made, opening them would be difficult.
Remaking playable areas are also possible. However, it will be a long process. For now, it is not yet part of the current plan of Square Enix for "Final Fantasy XV."
