"The Last of Us 2" is anticipated to be released in 2018, however, theories and speculations are rife since the end of 2016. Among the speculations that are quite interesting is that Joel is already dead and Ellie will fall in love with someone.

"The Last of Us 2" is one of the highly anticipated survival horror games. Naughty Dog has been very cagey about information pertaining to the game. However, the trailer in a way revealed how the story may run in the upcoming sequel.

Joel Is Already Dead

On PSX 2016, in the course of the panel discussion, it was made known that the setting of the game is five years later than the previous events in the previous installment. In addition, Niel Druckmann, the director, and creative producer revealed that the sequel would center about hate. The theory about Joel being dead in the upcoming game is triggered by his appearance in the trailer.

For some, the character appeared to be just an apparition. Aside from that, several others noted that Joel even after five years still looked the same and looks like he never came of age. Moreover, it was also noticeable that the clothes that he is wearing look clean without any stain as compared to Ellie who appeared ragged and drenched with blood.

Another theory for Joel's possible death is that the Fireflies that were inside the house in the trailer murdered him. This sparked more theory that Ellie's hatred towards the could have possibly stemmed from their act of killing Joel. Although the theory appears concrete, the game, however, is a buddy combat system. Apparently, it is either Joel is really alive or there is another character that will be introduced in the story.

Ellie Will Be In Love With Someone

The theory about Joel being dead spawned more speculation, given that "The Last of Us 2" will have buddy combat system. With Joel dead, fans cannot help but think that since another character will be introduced, and because of the situation Ellie will fall in love with that character. At present, no information from Naughty Dog about this has been revealed.
