Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean coming soon for Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 devices are eagerly waiting for the upgrade to Android 4.2.2, which is expected to arrive shortly.

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is the very latest version of Google's popular mobile operating system, or at least the latest version out. The update has yet to reach all high-end devices out there, but it seems the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 are next in line.

Back on May 10, SamMobile tweeted that the Android 4.2.2 update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 devices would come in June.  If the well-known Samsung-centric publication proves to be correct, owners of those devices might see the update very soon. SamMobile did not mention when exactly in June the update would arrive, but it shouldn't be long now. Some even expect the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update to land on June 1, which is just around the corner.

Ten days after that tweet, SamMobile also managed to get its hands on an Android 4.2.2 test build for the Galaxy S3. The build in question showed that Samsung was already putting the finishing touches on the software. Samsung has yet to confirm any of this, but a June update would make sense if the build follows its development schedule.

Samsung's next update to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is expected to bring many of the cool new features found on its Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone. Some of those features already made an appearance in the leaked Galaxy S3 build and the Galaxy Note 2 should benefit from the same treatment. Samsung already ported over numerous popular Galaxy Note 2 features such as Multi-View to the Galaxy S3 in an update, and the company might do the same with Galaxy S4 goodies.

The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update will bring the usual bug fixes and security enhancements over the previous version. Notable additions also include an improved Google Now, the Photo Sphere camera option that allows for 360-degree panoramas, as well as the ability to wirelessly stream content to an HDTV. Samsung will also throw in enhancements to its own software, including S-Voice.
